This policy came into operation on 4 March 2004, and has been endorsed by the Environment, Resources and Development Committee of Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Aquaculture Act 2001. The Mandatory Provisions (General) Policy identifies Mandatory Provisions applicable to all forms of aquaculture in South Australia. These Mandatory Provisions form an integral component of the adaptive management regime necessary to ensure the ecologically sustainable development of South Australia’s aquaculture industry.

This policy came into operation on 13th February 2003, and has been endorsed by the Environment, Resources and Development Committee of Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Aquaculture Act 2001. The policy outlines a cost recovery framework which provides for the equitable sharing of costs associated with the resource management and regulation of the aquaculture industry in South Australia.

Aquaculture Resource Management & Ecologically Sustainable Development Policy (.PDF) 129KB
This policy came into operation on 12 August 2004, and has been endorsed by the Environment, Resources and Development Committee of Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Aquaculture Act 2001. This policy represents the first step in the development of a framework for the ecologically sustainable development of the marine and landbased aquaculture industry sectors in South Australia.

Aquaculture Tenure Allocation Policy (.PDF) 121KB
This policy came into operation on 4 March 2004, and has been endorsed by the Environment, Resources and Development Committee of Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Aquaculture Act 2001. It is proposed to establish an aquaculture tenure allocation framework that will ensure a fair and efficient means of allocating the State’s marine resources, whilst achieving ecologically sustainable development and maximising community benefits.

Aquaculture Leasing & Licensing Policy (.PDF) 141KB
This policy came into operation on 4 March 2004 and has been endorsed by the Environment, Resources and Development Committee of Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Aquaculture Act 2001. It is proposed to establish a Leasing and Licensing Policy Framework, which ensures compliance with aquaculture policies and principles for both marine and land-based aquaculture activities. Aquaculture leases provide security of tenure, whilst licences accommodate flexible regulatory and adaptive management practices. The Policy Report determines appropriate policies, procedures and practices so the industry can develop in an ecologically sustainable manner.

South Australian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program (SASQAP) Policy (.PDF) 142KB
This policy came into operation on 4 March 2004 and has been endorsed by the Environment, Resource and Development Committee of Parliament in accordance with the Aquaculture Act 2001. It is proposed to establish a South Australian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program (SASQAP) Policy Framework, to ensure the production of farmed shellfish meets all relevant food safety standards. This policy outlines practices that are designed to ensure that bivalve molluscs harvested from South Australian waters meet the strictest national and international guidelines in regard to food safety and in so doing determines appropriate policies, procedures and practices so the industry can develop in an ecologically sustainable manner.
