Mr John Fargher (Presiding Member) B Ag Sc, M Nat Res, Oxford Adv Mgt Program, Fellow Royal Geog Soc
John Fargher is a Resource Economist and Agricultural Scientist with 30 years experience in natural resource management policy and practice. He has special expertise in water resource management, farm forestry and the role of forests in carbon sequestration. John was Presiding Member (1997 - 2004) of the Water Resources Council under the Water Resources Act 1997 (SA) and provides water policy and management advice to World Bank, Commonwealth Government and other countries. John led the team that prepared the 1996 National Commercial Farm Forestry Strategy for the Commonwealth, which led to the new policy supporting plantation development in southern Australia. His current work includes oversight and evaluation of voluntary investments in Indonesia and PNG to reduce emissions from degradation and deforestation (REDD).
Ms Catherine Barnett B. Bus (Marketing), Dip Aust Institute of Company Directors
Catherine Barnett is a marketing and communications consultant. She established Barnett Communications & Marketing in 1997 and works with government and private clients in the area of strategic marketing and planning, facilitating, communications and project management. Catherine is a marketing graduate and holds a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In her board roles she has a strong focus on strategic planning, stakeholder relations and governance. She is Chair of the Seafood Training Centre of Excellence, Chair of the South Australian Rock Lobster Advisory Council and Deputy Chair of Rural Financial Counselling Service SA. She has also been a director on Greyhound Racing SA and a member of the Horticulture Industry Development Board.
Mr Chris Peterson
Chris Peterson is CEO of Gunns Timber and was formerly Managing Director of Weyerhaeuser Australia. He has held senior management positions in the forest industry internationally particularly in South and North America. He is highly qualified for the Board with extensive experience in the industry across numerous sectors. His experience developing forest companies adds considerably to the skills base of the Board.
Mrs Lynette Pinder B.Bus (Accounting), CPA
Lynette is a professional non-executive director with experience on a number of government and not for profit boards. She has a background in accounting as a qualified CPA, as finance manager for Wheat Exports Australia, and in federal government central budget management.
Lynette specialises in strategic management, corporate governance and accounting. She has a strong interest in agriculture and primary industries based on her early experiences in the Murray mallee farming region, and through interaction with extended family who are members of the farming community in South Australia.
Lynette brings to the board a common-sense approach, and skills and experience in leadership, financial management and problem solving within complex environments. Her broad experience has been gained through living and working in Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Penang (Malaysia) and Canberra.
Dr Robert McCormack PhD, M.Eng.Admin, M.Sc, B.Econ, B.Sc(For)
Bob has vast experience in forestry and forestry development including work in research and science with the CSIRO and higher education. He has a very broad range of relevant skills and experience which closely relate to economic development, particularly those related innovation, environmental management, long term planning, yield regulation and regional development. This has been accrued over many years in Australia and New Zealand, USA, Indonesia, Sweden and Canada affording him a wide insight into plantation and modern industrial approaches.
Ms Shelly Dunstone LL.B, GDLP, Dip. SIA, B. Man (Mktg)
Shelley Dunstone helps businesses to rise above the competition by developing innovative strategies, building upon their unique strengths. A former lawyer and partner of a commercial law firm, she holds qualifications in Law, Marketing and Applied Finance. She has run her own strategic consulting business since 1998. Her professional experience spans legal practice, marketing, training, recruitment, career counselling and problem-solving for a wide variety of unique business challenges. Shelley is a thought leader on the topic of leadership for innovation. She contributed to the Federal Government’s Review of the National Innovation System, and to the follow-up Public Sector Review. She works in Australia and internationally as a professional speaker, author, facilitator, trainer, mentor and coach.
Ms Karen Forster
Karen has been managing a medium sized sawmilling business in Mount Gambier for the past 25 years, including a treatment plant and wholesaling facility based in Victoria. Karen has substantial practical experience in all facets of business management, including strategic planning, systems development, financial and human resource management, and legal compliance. Karen brings to the board knowledge and experience of operating in the Green Triangle business environment, one of the Australia’s largest forest growing and processing regions.
