Forestry Development

PIRSA Forestry seeks development opportunities to enhance the contribution of South Australia's forest and forest products sector by pursuing innovation, barrier reduction and providing information and advice. 

Forestry Development includes a number of activities including:

PIRSA Forestry supports Farm Forestry activities across South Australia, particularly in the Upper and Lower South East, Mount Lofty Ranges and Kangaroo Island. This includes the development of hardwood and softwood plantations on private land by assisting private landholders to establish and manage a range of tree species.

PIRSA Forestry is involved in a number of research projects that include: improving genetic material for low rainfall areas; increasing Tasmanian blue gum second rotation productivity; and hardwood thinning trials.

PIRSA Forestry provides advice and services to the public and farm foresters. This includes advice on a range of topics such as plantation establishment, management and harvesting advice.
