Frequently Asked Questions

Will the SA Forest Industry Strategy represent government policy?

No. The Strategy will not be government policy, rather a statement of intent. The main purpose of developing this Strategy is to identify opportunities for industry, government and the community to work together to strengthen the development of the forest and forest products industry in South Australia.

Why we need a forest industry strategy?

To identify opportunities for industry, government and the community to work collectively to strengthen the development of the forest industry in South Australia. Only with support from all of these stakeholders can 'actions' be developed to make a difference.

Who is responsible for the development of the Strategy?

The Forest Industry Development Board has a role to develop, review and support the implementation of a forest industry strategy in South Australia. They will do this through consultation with industry stakeholders.

What are the consultation activities that I can be involved in?

There will be a series of information sessions held so that stakeholders are informed about the proposed vision, targets, directions and strategies, and how to comment on the strategy. Location of these sessions will focus on the forest growing regions in the state (where there is demand), and Adelaide. These sessions will be attended by members of the Forest Industry Development Board, and further workshops or meetings can be arranged on request or where a need is identified.

How can I make a contribution to the development of the Strategy?

PIRSA Forestry is working with the Board to facilitate the development of the Strategy. You are encouraged to contact PIRSA Forestry to discuss your contribution. A submission template for written submissions will be available on our website shortly

What are the key targets that the Strategy what to achieve?

There are three key targets that the Strategy wants to achieve: (1) increase the value of the forest industry; (2) strengthen the forest industry’s contribution to the community; and (3) enhance the forest industry’s contribution to multiple environmental benefits.
