Former Mines
The Mine Completion Group continues a comprehensive program that manages several former mine sites and addresses issues of environmental and public safety. This rehabilitation work is done in collaboration with other government Agencies.
For new and existing mining operations, the Mine Completion Group will develop and implement policy and processes related to the Government's role in adopting the Ministerial Council on Mineral and Petroleum Resources' (MCMPR) Strategic Framework for Mine Closure and develop management arrangements for strategic Extractive Areas Rehabilitation Fund issues.
