More about PACE's award

PACE Exploration is dedicated to the expansion of the South Australian exploration search space in order to provide explorers with new pathways for the discovery of next generation world class mines.

Pathways to Prospectivity

Objective:  To expand the exploration search space and deliver new world class mines.

Pathways to Prospectivity will focus on the key elements fundamental to understanding the prospectivity of South Australia. Work programs will operate in new and frontier areas, as well as apply new techniques and ideas to known and proven areas of South Australia.

Pathways to Prospectivity will expand potential target areas by broadening the footprint of mineral systems and identifying alteration signatures that point to mineralisation.

Pathways to Discovery

Objective:  To deliver new baseline geoscientific data sets for direct detection of mineral and energy resources.

Pathways to Discovery will provide the exploration industry with a range of new baseline geoscientific data sets for direct detection of mineral and energy resources. This program will generate data in greenfield areas where data density is poor and outdated.

New geophysics will include regional airborne electromagnetic and gravity surveys, and statewide hyperspectral analysis and geochemical data, such as hydrogeochemistry, multi-element calcrete sampling and bedrock geochemistry drilling in frontier areas.

Innovation through Integration

Objective:  To deliver unique and innovative products designed for integration with company data libraries and for use in exploration programs delivered direct through SARIG.

Innovation through Integration brings together the aforementioned programs in a series of unique and innovative products designed for direct integration with company data libraries and for use in exploration programs.

The program will:

PACE Partnerships

Objective: To provide maximum leverage through collaborative programs that will engage  researchers, explorers,  developers, government agencies and communities.

  • PACE Discovery Drilling – maintaining key support for exploration drilling in frontier and newly emerging regions of South Australia. (PACE Round 6 Drilling Collaboration)
  • PACE Targeting – collaborative geophysical surveys with a focus on new, emerging, and prospective areas of the State. Government partnerships with companies to trial new and untested techniques at a regional and prospect level.
  • PACE Geochronology - provides access to analytical equipment and expertise for dating mineral systems and deposits in order to constrain geological models, and allow more accurate interpretations.
  • PACE Water Search - supporting resource projects through the development and feasibility stage by assisting in the search for water resources. Data collected will be directly incorporated in the Government’s groundwater database and analyses will feed into the State hydrogeochemistry program.
