Exco Resources’ White Dam Gold Project is located 80 km west of Broken Hill and about 15 km north of the Barrier Highway. Exco Resources offered the project for sale or joint venture. Syrah Resources Limited and RMB Resources undertook due diligence in January–February 2008 but decided not to proceed with purchase of the project. The project is now subject to joint venture arrangements between Exco and Polymetals Australia Pty Ltd (Polymetals). Polymetals have acquired a 25% interest (Exco retains a 75% interest) and will manage the implementation and operation of the project. The project encompasses an open pit mine, dump/heap leach, gold extraction plant and associated infrastructure and is expected to produce a total of 120,000oz of gold at a rate of 50,000oz per annum over the relatively short-life project. A mining lease was granted by PIRSA in September 2007 and a native title agreement is in place for the mining lease. White Dam was officially opened by Hon Paul Holloway, 10 June 2010. More information about White Dam can be found on Exco's website (external site)
