The World Rural Women’s Congress series began with the first International Conference in Melbourne in 1994. This event recognised the vital role played by rural women in rural communities, primary industries and farm families. It was an opportunity for women to learn, network and support each other. It was also a celebration of the tireless, unsung and largely unpaid work of rural women which underpins communities today.
South Australia has supported strong delegations to each of the conferences and delegates have found that the experience has given them the confidence and motivation to take leading roles within their industries and contribute to their communities.
