SA Department of Health manages public health-related issues involving the sale, supply, possession, labelling, storage, transport and disposal of drugs and certain chemicals. It administers the licensing requirements for commercial pesticide applicators. It also licenses the sellers of Schedule 7 poisons (Dangerous Poisons) and requires that these products are sold only to persons possessing prescribed chemical use competencies.
SafeWork SA regulates both occupational health, safety and welfare (OHSW) in workplaces and also the transport, storage and handling of dangerous substances.
OHSW regulations describe how hazardous substances should be properly managed in the workplace so that work-related illness or disease arising from exposure to hazardous substances can be prevented.
The Dangerous Substances Act and Regulations control the transport, storage and handling of dangerous substances. Flammable, toxic and corrosive chemicals may be classed as dangerous substances.
Environment Protection Authority (EPA) (external site)

A person must not undertake an activity that pollutes, or might pollute, the environment unless the person takes all reasonable and practical measures to prevent or minimize any resulting environmental harm. In conjunction with other relevant State Government Departments, EPA has developed a comprehensive reference document on pesticide use.
